Artisanally Harvested Fleur de Sel
Our gourmet artisanal Fleur de Sel is harvested off the coast of Samutsakorn using centuries-old, sustainable, traditional methods. This bright white treasure is comprised of snow-like crystals and has a slight hint of caramel in its flavor. To enhance dishes just before serving, add a pinch for a burst of flavor, texture and visual appeal.
What is Good Agricultural Practices
Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) is a set of standards for the safe and sustainable production of crops. This aims to help salt farmers ensure their farm operation up to high standard of production and hygiene, while minimizing environmental impact. Thai salt farming GAP covers 34 requirements, including quality of sea water input, storage protection and cleanliness, use of boots and gloves for the farmers, standard of hygiene in the packing room etc.
Why “Sam Salt” ?
“Samut” also means ocean in Thai.
Salt farming is probably one of the world’s cultural heritages that is disappearing, threatened by climate change and other commercial reasons. Sam Salt would like to demonstrate to Thai salt farmers that they are able to add value to their products, through their conventional and sustainable methods and with their commitment in high standard of production.
